- Having registered, swimmers must wear the numbered hat allocated to them during the swim, also your registration number will be written on the back of your hand.
- A lakeside briefing will be given approx. 15 minutes before the competitors are due to start their race.
- Competitors must have completed the layout of their transition kit by this time. Please do not enter transition after this time, as the race will be starting immediately after the race briefing.
- Please do not enter the lake until you are asked to do so by the lakeside marshal.
- Please note wetsuits, though not compulsory are recommended for this event – water temperature approx: 16 – 20.
- Competitors will swim either one or two laps of the lake depending on their chosen race distance, before exiting the lake by climbing out via the steps near to the transition area.
- When swimming – the buoys must always be on your right hand side.
- Competitors MUST NOT run on lakeside as this area becomes extremely slippery when wet.
- All competitors MUST listen to instructions given to them by the lakeside marshal. This is for their safety and the safety of those competitors around them.
RUN SECTION
- In transition, an area will be allocated for each competitor’s use.
- For the run a race number must be displayed either pinned to a t-shirt/top or fastened to a race belt.
- All competitors must ensure that they are wearing appropriate clothing, this means both upper torso and lower body must be covered on the run section.
- Nudity in the transition area will lead to disqualification.
- If using a race belt, the number should be pinned/fastened to the belt along the top edge to avoid the number folding over whilst competing. Safety pins will be available at registration.
- Details of any medical conditions/medications being taken should be written on the back of the race number. In the event of an emergency, this will aid the rescue services.
- Once in transition, competitors must dress and put on trainers/race belt before heading out onto the run, marshals will be in attendance. A drinks (water) table will be positioned close to the start of the run
- The run course will be marshalled and their instructions MUST be obeyed.
- Note that the running course: starts by running around field, up the promenade to the turning point return same way, again around field either to finish or carry on for the second lap, This route is not closed to the public and marshals will try to ensure that the route is kept free as possible for competitors, however competitors should be aware of other users of the area and make allowances for this. Please note that intimidation or abuse of the public sharing the promenade will not be tolerated and anyone found doing this will be disqualified immediately.
RUN COURSE
- The run course will consist of an out and back route. Starting at the side of the lake from transition it is up the steps and then around field, up the promenade to the turning point return same way, again around field either to finish or carry on for the second lap. When running around the field, at all times the miniature railway track must be on your left – do not cross over the track.
- There will be a water station situated just after transition.
TEAM EVENTS
- Swimmers as swim section and runners and run section. Take over will be at the exit of the transition area.
