BADGE SCHEME

Throughout the children’s swimming lessons they will work mainly towards improving stroke technique. When their technique has reached a certain standard, distance badges will be introduced. We also teach working to achieve the Amateur Swimming Association National Level badges.

Any badges will only be awarded when each individual swimmer can achieve these goals easily.
We award badges at the end of every full term (3 times a year).
We know that children and parents like to receive badges to acknowledge their progress but all our teachers do not enjoy this time as many children will be disappointed in not achieving a badge and this often leads to upset children and parents
Waves Swim School pride themselves in awarding badges when the syllabus is met not just giving out badges to avoid disappointment - we will give feed back to what needs to be worked on to achieve the next badge - with this is mind we have decided that we will only award badges up to Level 9.
We have many swimmers beyond this ability but they swim for enjoyment and still to improve their technique over a distance and continue to develop their skills.
